Grant Making

Significant Grants & Outcomes  |  Collaborating Organizations

Relying on the professional advice and grant proposal evaluation of its Advisory Board, together with the experience of its foundation and individual collaborators, The Generation Foundation can:

  • make grants, primarily for programs that can ultimately create new Knowledge Economy jobs;

  • pass through grants from other foundations to jointly supported programs, and

  • receive grants, helping private foundations satisfy minimum distribution requirements.

The Foundation has a focused, proactive approach in grantmaking to nonprofit organizations. No grants are made for routine operating funds or to endowments. The Board has targeted the following areas for grant support:

  • Initiatives which support sustainable economic growth and will aid in the formation of new firms and jobs

  • Technology transfer at local universities and research facilities to realize the full potential of commercialization in creating more new local enterprises

  • Programs to help existing manufacturers develop innovative practices

  • Renovation of empty factory space for incubators and start-up companies, and

  • Researching the feasibility of a comprehensive regional sustainability “roadmap” strategy.
